English lessons for non-native English speakers

by | Aug 23, 2022

Hello there,

My name is Nikki Young and I’m an English tutor and author.

I run a writing club called Storymakers, and since 2017, I’ve been helping children aged 7 up to teens improve their English.

Some lack confidence in English, others are studying for secondary school entrance exams, whilst other simply come along to my groups because they love writing and want to nurture their love of creative writing with like-minded people.

Then there are those who work with me to become published authors. Yes, you read that right. I’ve helped many children write a story that they’ve received back as a published hardback book thanks to my holiday workshops and my publishing partner, Saronti.

I’ve been writing professionally for over 10 years – mainly for businesses and online magazines. I also have four published books under my belt, with two more in the pipeline.

I think you can safely say that when it comes to writing, I’ve got you.

What if English isn’t your first language?

I’m delighted to say that if this is the case, I have also got you.

The process of learning a second language is very different to that of your native one. We absorb so much of our mother tongue before we can even communicate – just think how much babies can understand. By the time we begin learning to write, we already know how to speak pretty fluently, the nuances of communication are there, even if our understanding of the language still has some way to go.

Learning English as a second language is an exciting prospect. You may think it’s necessary in order to get on in the world. You may simply want to learn English because you love the language and want to broaden your horizons. Wherever you are on your language learning journey, I can help.

I am a certified EFL teacher and I combine this with my experience tutoring native English speakers and my writing experience to bring to you a wealth of knowledge of the English language.

I’m a passionate writer and story teller and I want to help you.
