Nondula is the second part of the ‘Waifs of Duldred’ trilogy and it’s shaping up to be the most interesting trilogy I’ve read in a long time.

If you haven’t read book one, ‘Oy Yew’, I suggest you add it to your reading list immediately! You can read my review here, if you want to know more.

This second instalment sees Oy and his friends arriving at Nondula, where for the first time in their lives, they experience kindness, fresh air and good food. But all is not as it seems, when the children discover the residents of Nondula are living in fear of neighbours, the Felluns.

The disappearance of Nondula’s last healer to Fellund, along with the need to find a cure for best friend, Linnet’s, mysterious illness, leads Oy on a quest to this dark and dangerous place. Ruled by Queen, Bominata, Fellund is a world away from the comfort of Nondula. It’s dirty, dank and rife with illness and greed and it soon becomes clear that Oy and his friends are not quite as safe and secure as they first thought.

Author, Ana Salote, has created an interesting and unique world as the setting for a story that has an all-star cast of children, each with strong characteristics and special gifts. Despite their terrible circumstances and poor start in life, the children continually demonstrate courage and resistance against all odds, as well as a friendship and loyalty that binds them in their fight for a better life.
