Easter Bunny Hunt at Riverhill Gardens

by | Apr 4, 2015

It wouldn’t be Easter without a trip to Riverhill Gardens for their annual Easter Bunny Hunt. It’s become somewhat of a tradition for us in the last few years and for me, particularly this year, it marks the beginning of Spring.

There are ten bunnies to find and each one is numbered. When you find one, you match it to one of the outline bunny drawings on your score sheet and write the number inside.

Despite my eldest daughter remembering the numbers of the bunnies from previous years, we resolved not to cheat and find all ten. There’s always one though isn’t there? But even though we knew, by default, the number of the last bunny we had to find, we kept hunting until we found it. There’s chocolate mini egg prizes waiting for you if you complete the hunt!

There was definitely a feeling of spring in the air at Riverhill. Buds are starting to form and blossoms are beginning to bloom and when the sun came out to say hello, it made for a perfect afternoon of fresh air and exercise.

Fuelled by chocolate, after finishing searching for Easter bunnies, we ventured back up to the woods. The children wanted to see if the Yeti was hiding out in his burrow. He was nowhere to be seen in the woods (he comes out between 2 and 4 o’clock most days – try explaining that to your little ones). They were happy to have a go at den building though, followed by a play in the adventure park.

After almost two and a half hours of outdoor activities, I was well and truly flagging, so we wondered back to the main entrance, admiring the interesting sculptures dotted about the gardens, along the way.

Then it was time for a much needed pit stop at the cafe, before heading off for home.

We’re so lucky to have such a lovely place on our doorstep. It’s family run and there’s always someone around to say hello and have a chat to. The children never tire of going there either, as there is always so much for them to do. The Easter Bunny Hunt marks the first of many visits to Riverhill for us during the season. We’re looking forward to the warmer weather now so we can go back and take a picnic.

I love all the Easter Egg hunts going round this week, they look so much fun and a great way to grab some fresh air too. That den building area looks wonderful and the wooden play area a perfect way to finish the day.

Oh, looks like a brilliant day out and I am definitely making Riverhill a stop for us in the near future. You’re not wrong about the dens and the activity areas. Love the photos of the Spring flowers – let’s hope Spring has finally sprung. A cafe pitstop is definitely a must!

Let me know if you do. I’ll come and join you for a coffee. Took those photos with the iPhone. It’s amazing when doing close ups like that.

It’s a good one and even though my oldest wasn’t too bothered about it, she still enjoyed being there.
